Mr. S.B. Mathur, B.Com., FCA, ICWA has over 40 years of experience in the Insurance and housing finance field. 

He has attended the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant (London).

Mr. S.B Mathur is a Director on the Boards of UltraTech Cement Limited, Thomas Cook (India) Limited and DCM Shriram Industries Limited, amongst others.

 He served as a Secretary General of Life Insurance Council from May, 2012 to August 2012. He served as Chairman of the Board at India Mortgage Guarantee Corporation Private Limited. Mr. Mathur has been Independent Non-Executive Chairman at Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Limited since November 17, 2014.

 He served as the Chairman of IDFC Trustee Co. Limited.; Orbis Financial Corporation Limited; UTI Technology Services Ltd.; UTI Infrastructure & Services Limited; LIC HFL Care Homes Limited; LIC (International) E.C. Bahrain; LIC (Lanka) Limited; LIC (Mauritius) Offshore Limited; LIC (Nepal) Limited and Jeevan Bima Sahayog Asset Management Company Limited. He served as Chairman of Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company Ltd. He served as the Chairman of National Stock Exchange at India Ltd. until February 2002; LIC Housing Finance Ltd. until October 31, 2004 and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) from August 2002 to October 2004. 

He served as the Non-Executive Chairman of National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. since September 2012 and previously served as its Chairman until February 2010. He served as the Chairman of Grasim Industries Limited. Mr. Mathur was  a Director of ITC Foods Limited.

 He served as a Director of UTI Bank Limited; IL & FS Limited; National Investment Fund; National Collateral Management Services Limited; Munich Re India Services Private Limited; EMD Locomotive Technologies Private Limited; Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Limited; Subhiksha Trading Services Limited. 

He served as an Independent Director of AIG Trustee Company (India) Private Limited at Pinebridge India Equity Fund Incorporating Pinebridge Investments GF Mauritius Limited. He was a Non-Executive Independent Director at ITC Limited since July 29, 2007. He serves as a Director at Indian Mortgage Guarantee Corporation. 

He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director at Thomas Cook (India) Limited since December 23, 2015. He served as an Independent Director of Janalakshmi Financial Services Private Limited. He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of DCM Shriram Industries Ltd., since January 14, 2008; UltraTech Cement Limited since September 10, 2008; and an Independent Director at Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited since June 14, 2006.
